Sree Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) was started in the year 1988 by Sree Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). The Medical College and hospital is located in the outskirts of Tumkur city – 6 km from the city amidst green field in a vast campus of 220 acres of the side of Bangalore – Honnavar national highway and it is just 76 Km from Bangalore city connected by road and railway.
The climate is similar to Bangalore. There are 21 buildings with built-in area of about 73,875 sq. mt at the cost of about Rs. 20 crores, which include furnished quarters for staffs. There are separate buildings for pre and para-clinical departments, library and information center and SSMC Hospital
Under Graduate - MBBS
Admission Eligibility
- The candidate shall have passed the two year P.U.C examination conducted by P.U Board, Karnataka State with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects or any other examinations recognized as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences
Or the first year of three year degree course of a Recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination i.e. a "University Examinations"
- B.Sc with physics, chemistry and biology (botany and zoology) or Chemistry, botany and Zoology exam of an Indian university, provided that he has passed the B.Sc examination and has passed the B.Sc Examination and has secured at least 50% in any of the two subjects studied at the degree level and he has passed the earlier qualifying examination with physics, chemistry, biology and English
- Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian university / board, taking physics, chemistry and biology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English the candidate shall have obtained not less than 50% for general candidates
- The candidate should have to complete 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.
Duration Of the Course
- Each candidate shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4 1/2 academic years from the date of commencement of his study for the subject comprising the examination followed by one-year compulsory Rotation internship.
- The first 12 months shall be occupied in the study of the phase I (Pre clinical) Subjects and no student shall be permitted to join the phase –II (Para-clinical). Group of Subjects until he has passed in all Phase I. Subjects
- After passing pre clinical subjects, 3 1/2 years shall be devoted to clinical subjects. During the first 18 months of this period Para-clinical subjects to be studied collaterally.

- Total number of seats -> 130
- Number of candidates admitted through Common Entrance Test (CET) -> 50%
- Number of candidates admitted through management quota -> 50%
Post Graduate Degree / Diploma Course (MD/MS)
Admission Eligibility
Candidate who has passed the MBBS degree examination after pursuing a study in a Medical College recognized by the Medical Council of India of this university or of other recognized medical college affiliated to any other University, recognized as equivalent there to, and has completed one year Compulsory Rotating Internship in a teaching institution or other institution recognized by the Medical Council of India by 30th April 2008 and has obtained permanent registration of any State Medical Council, shall be eligible for admission provided the candidate for degree/diploma has not failed more than four times in final year MBBS subject viz., Medicine, Surgery, OBG provided further that, in respect of SC/ST and BT candidates should not have failed more than five times in the above said subjects
Duration Of the Course
The course of study shall extend over a period of three years for degree courses and two years for diploma courses.

Admissions
Admissions to U.G and P.G courses shall be made on an All India basis to the identical courses in all deemed-to-be universities through a Common Entrance Test conducted by UGC or by an Institution / Agency identified and approved by the UGC. This shall also apply to those institutions which have already been given the deemed-to-be university status.
