About College:-

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, comprising of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, was accorded the status of University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No. F.9-39/2001-U.3 dated 11th January 2003 of the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary & Higher Education, New Delhi, and (ii) Notification No.F6-9/2003 (CPP-I) dated 24/01/2003 by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

Education is much more than the mere collection and distribution of knowledge. It offers intellectual hospitality, opportunities for innovation, creativity; power of thought and imagination. It envisages development of character and inculcation of a firmness of mind and zeal to offer one's best to the world. Education is the means of unfolding moral and spiritual potentialities of men. 

The Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, established in 1996, received approval of the medical council of India (MCI), for the award of MBBS degree for its very first batch. The college has been accorded the status of Deemed-to-be-University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India on recommendation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) within a period of just six and a half years of establishment, perhaps the shortest period of such recognition. This is the first private college in the State of Maharashtra to receive MCI approval to increase in the intake from 100 to 150 students in 2003 and from 150 to 250, within the shortest span of time. The college building is a masterpiece of architecture and has all state-of-the-art facilities that are in tune with the best in the world. The college building basks in fine aesthetics and is impressive. It has a mural of Lord Dhanvantari on its facade and the magnificent fibre glass dome can be seen from miles around.

Currently, the college provides facilities for M.B.B.S. and Post-Graduate studies. The spacious building accommodates twenty different departments, which include Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Paediatrics, Chest and TB, Skin and VD, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology and Radiodiognosis tune with the growing demands on medical professionals to be conversant with the cutting edge of modern technology, the Para- clinical departments of the College are equipped with the best facilities. The modern laboratories conform to the requirements prescribed by the Medical Council of India. The clear differentiator of the college is the experienced and learned faculty. They are provided with access to the library and journals, along with a host of other facilities and interact with national and international experts for their skill updating and enhancement.

Traditionally, admission criteria differed from one part of the country to another and even from Institution to Institution. The whole admission process is presently under a major reform. In general, admission is based on one of the following:

Marks obtained in the competitive examinations conducted at central or state level.

Course Duration       : 4 ½ years + 1 year Rotatory Internship

Admission Procedure          : Through All India Allied Health Sciences Entrance Test conducted by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune.

Entry Qualification  : Any examination equivalent to H.S.C. / (10+2) examination, of any recognized Board/ University after 12 years of study.

50% in PCB for general category and 40% for reserved category.
