Medical College (KMC), Manipal
Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal was started on June
30, 1953, by late Dr. T. M. A. Pai. The late Dr. Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai
(1898 – 1979), physician, educationist, banker and philanthropist, was the
founder and builder of modern Manipal.
KMC was granted Certification by the Medical Council of
India in 1958. Certification by the General Medical Council of Great Britain
and the Malaysian Medical Council soon followed.
The institute created with only the pre-clinical section at
Manipal as the students had to go to Mangalore for their clinical training. In
1969, when the clinical program started in Manipal, KMC became a full-fledged
independent college.
Kasturba Medical College is the first college in the private
sector and ranks among the top five medical colleges in the country today.
Students from 44 countries have graduated from the college, and its degrees are
recognized worldwide.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor
of Surgery (MBBS):
The MBBS course is offered at KMC, Manipal and KMC,
Mangalore. Its duration is four and a half years plus one year of compulsory
rotating internship course.
This is recognized by the General Medical Council of Great
Britain and the Malaysian Medical Council.
The course conducts theory classes and clinical training
according to MCI guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria:
Qualification: Pass in 10+2, A level, IB, American 12th
grade or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English
individually with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology/Biotechnology taken together.
Admission Procedure:
- Admissions are done on the basis of rank in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) 2015. Candidates who have secured minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) 2015 will be considered for admissions.
- Foreign/NRI Category: Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination
- Government Category: Few MBBS seats are reserved for candidates selected by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Government of Karnataka, and Bangalore.
